Introducing the Foundation’s Newest Managing Director: Reuben McDaniel
Welcoming Reuben McDaniel to the Alice L. Walton Foundation team and ushering in the next chapter of growth.
The Alice L. Walton Foundation is pleased to have Reuben McDaniel step into the role of Managing Director, as he leads the foundation into its next chapter of growth and development.
We touched base with Reuben quickly to learn more about his experience and how he’s feeling as he begins his new role with the foundation. “This is an exciting opportunity to lead this young organization in achieving its philanthropic mission,” says McDaniel. “It also allows me to return to Bentonville and work directly with Alice Walton, who I worked with previously on significant economic developments for the Northwest Arkansas region.”
Reuben will help advance the foundation’s mission of working to enhance the quality of life for individuals by providing access to offerings that improve well-being and create diverse and inclusive communities.
We are excited to have Reuben join the team. “Reuben is a proven leader with a deep commitment to providing access to opportunities that can improve lives, which aligns well with the foundation’s work,” says philanthropist Alice Walton. “I’m so pleased that he will be guiding the foundation in our efforts to increase quality of life.”
McDaniel most recently was President and CEO of DASNY (Dormitory Authority – State of New York), where he oversaw the construction, financing, and allied services for New York state. He has also served as Managing Director at Raymond James, President/CEO of RM Capital Management as well as Jackson Securities, Chairman of the Board of Atlanta Public Schools, and as head of capital markets for Llama Company, an investment bank founded by Alice Walton. McDaniel’s extensive past experience in supporting community efforts and working alongside Alice Walton’s community-based initiatives highlights his expertise. His past work underscores his ability to successfully serve the foundation and bring new energy and perspectives to the foundation’s work.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
We’re delighted to see where Reuben takes the foundation in the future.
