Alice Walton Is Getting Art Out of Storage and Into the World

The conference honored Alice Walton, arts patron and scion of the Walmart founder, and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Nobel Laureate and former president of Liberia. 

The International Women’s Forum & Leadership Foundation inducted Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Alice Walton into the International Hall of Fame.

“Outstanding artworks are in museum vaults and private collections; let’s make that art available to everyone, and provide a way to experience these cultural treasures," said Alice Walton. 

Art Bridges is building partnerships with exceptional museums of all sizes, and beginning to launch several projects. 

The University of Arkansas announced Wednesday it will be turning its Art Department into a School of Art thanks to a $120 million gift from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation. 

The gift to the Amon Carter is the largest in the museum's history, according to the press release issued Tuesday. The money will be doled out over the course of five years and was specifically allocated to exhibition development and educational initiatives. - Dallas Observer
