Alice Walton, the only daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, established Crystal Bridges Museum of Art in 2005, with the mission to "welcome all to celebrate the American spirit in a setting that unites the power of art with the beauty of nature."

He and his team created the $5 million Bridge Ahead initiative to help regional and metropolitan partner institutions stay connected to their communities and plan for safe reopenings.
In a news release published on April 23, the Academy of Arts and Sciences named Alice Walton as a newly elected member of its 2025 cohort.
As the release states, “Since 1780, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences has honored excellence and convened leaders from across disciplines and divides to examine new ideas, address issues of importance, and work together “to advance the interest, honor, dignity, and happiness of a free, independent, and virtuous people.”
The newest members, announced today, have distinguished themselves in academia, the arts, industry, policy, research, and science.”
Walton was noted for her philanthropic leadership, including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and will be inducted into the Academy in October.
